This hanging painting of the Buddha Triad is used for various outdoor ceremonies at Temple. Measuring an impressive 12.47 meters in length and 9,48 meters in width, the scroll shows Vairochana Buddha, flanked by Shakyamuni and Rocana Buddha, giving a sermon on the truths of the Avatamsaka Sutra. Alternatively known as the Vairochana Triad Painting, it also depicts Sariputra, one of Shakyamuni's disciples, asking for a sermon about the dharma. Completed in 1650, it is a fine example of the hanging scroll painting of the 17th seventeenth century.
