Treasure · 조선시대(1655년) · Sasang-gu, Busan
Daeungjeon is a Buddhist worship hall enshrining a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha. This hall is also the main hall of Unsusa Temple.
The construction of this hall began in 1647 and was completed in 1655. None of the wooden buildings in the Busan area survived the fierce battles during the Japanese Invasions of 1592-1598, and this buildings is the oldest extant wooden building in the area.
The building's four corner pillars are made of stone at the bottom and wood at the top. This design was meant to enhance the pillars' durability given the local climate's characteristics such as frequent typhoons and heavy rains.
Inside the hall is a stone buddha triad(Busan Tangible Cultural Heritage No.92).
