Treasure · 불상:1388이전,복장유물:고려-조선 · Dong-gu, Gwangju
Among the relics discovered inside the Wooden seated Amitabha Buddha was a written record concerning the repair of and reapplication of gold powder to the image in 1388. This is the only documentary evidence of the statue's production date, clearly proving that it was made prior to that date. The statue was carved using a naturalistic sculpting technique to create a graceful, well-proportioned figure. It exhibits the same style seen in other wooden, seated Amitabha Buddha's produced towards the end of the 12th century, including those at Gaeunsa and Suguksa Temples and at Bongnimsa Temple in Hwaseong.
