Treasure · 1610년 (광해군 2년) · Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do
This wooden statue of the Amitabha Buddha Triad is kept in Amitabha Buddha Hall at Silleuksa Temple.
The Amitabah Buddha is depicted seated in the center, flanked by Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva and Avalokitesvara (Guanyin) Bodhisattva, both of whom are standing. The statue is characterized by an unusually tall yukgye (Ushinisha, a piece of flesh signifying wisdom on the top of the Buddha's head), the trio's unique-looking faces, and the atypical portrayal of the creases in the Buddha's robe.
The record discovered inside the statue reveals that the triad was made by monks and villagers in 1610 (the 2nd year of the reign of King Gwanghae of Joseon). The record also includes the name of the monk-sculptor Inil, making the relic even more valuable for specialists in sculptural works of the seventeenth century.
