Portrait of Seo Gyeong-u and Storage Case

This is a portrait of Seo Gyeong-u (1573-1645), a civil official of the Joseon period (1392-1910). During the Manchu invasion of 1627, Seo Gyeong-u escorted the king to Ganghwado Island. In 1643, he was sent to Qing China as an official envoy. The following year, he became third state councilor. The portrait of Seo Gyeong-u has been well preserved its original appearance without any significant damage, showing the outstanding quality and characteristics of portraits of the 17th century.
