From an inscription on the iron Buddha in the temple’s main hall, this 4.1m-high pagoda is judged to have been built in 865, the fifth year of the reign of kyongmun-wang(r. 861-875) of the Unified Shilla period(668-935), The three-story pagoda is supported by a rather unusual oclagonal pedestal, the top and bottom of which are also oclagonal and decoratively carved with lotus petals and geometrical designs. Only the lo-wer part of the conor-stone remains.
