This massive iron pot preserved around the kitchen of Beopjusa Temple is 1.2m in height, 2.7m in diameter, 10.8m in circumference, 10cm in thickness, and 20 tons in weight. It features the shape of a large bowl that could cook forty 80kg bags of rice at a time, and is known to have been used as a cooker for about 3,000 monks who stayed at the temple when it was at its height. The pot displays a simple figure without any design or inscription that can inform about when, by whom, and how it was made Historians agree, however, that this cast iron pot should taken an important position in the Korean history of technology.
