Treasure · 조선시대 초기 · Hongseong-gun, Chungcheongnam-do
This building is the main ball of Gosansa Temple.
This temple is presumed to have been founded by Doseon (827-898), an eminent Buddhist monk of the Unified Silla period (668-935). The main hall was reconstructed in 1672 and dismantled and renovated in 1974.
A statue of Amitabha, the Buddha of the Western Paradise, is enshrined in this hall. The coffered ceiling is painted with various patterns, and a red wooden canopy stands over the Buddhist altar.
