Treasure · Goryeo period · Dangjin-si, Chungcheongnam-do
This Buddha statue enshrined in Yeongtapsa Temple describes Vairocana Buddha, the main Buddha, on octagonal louts pedestal and its attendant Bodhisattva statues. The square face of the main Buddha features chubby cheeks, slanted eyes, sharp nose and smiling small mouth and displays the characteristics of Goryeo Buddha statues. The attendant Bodhisattva statues were made by using same sculpture technique and are splendid in their overall appearance made with same technique. Two stems sprouted from the pedestal of the main Buddha rise to make the lotus pedestal of this Buddha triad, which shows a very unique style.
