Treasure · 백제 의자왕 2년(643) · Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do
This building was damaged during the Japanese Invasion of Korea(1592-98) and repaired by the Daeungbojeon Hall of Magoksa Temple, Gongju
Buddhist monk Gaksun in 1651 (the 2nd year of King Hyojong’s reign). According to a historic record, it was originally constructed as Daejangjeon Hall, but it is not clear when it became Daeungbojeon Hall. It seems to be a two-storied building from outside, but the interior consists of just a single story.
This hall houses a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha accompanied by Amitabha and Bhaisajyaguru (Wooden Buddha Triad at Daeungbojeon Hall, Magoksa Temple in Gongju ; Chungcheongnam-do Tangible Cultural Heritage No. 185).
