Printing Woodblocks of Bulseol daebo bumo eunjunggyeong (Sakyamuni’s Teaching on Parental Love), Korean Translation
These are woodblocks for printing Sakyamuni’s Teachings on Parental Love, which is a Buddhist scripture containing the teachings of the Buddha on the love of one’s parents and the importance of repaying their love and sacrifices, explicated with texts and illustrations.
Currently stored at Sesimsa Temple, these thirteen woodblocks were made in 1563 at Sinsimsa Temple (the predecessor of Sesimsa). They are based on the vernacular Korean version of the scripture which was translated from Classical Chinese and published by O Eung-seong in 1545. These woodblocks are the oldest extant woodblocks of this scripture’s Korean version.
