Treasure · Goryeo period · Gimje-si, Jeollabuk-do
This stone structure is presumed to have been made in the early period of the Goryeo dynasty (918-1392). It was originally located in front of Mireukjeon Hall, but in 1922. it was moved its current location.
This structure consists of a square platform, a stone pillar, a base carved in the shape of a lotus flower, and a decorative top. It is unknown what was the function of this stone structure, but some theories include that it was used as a stone lantern to cast light upon the Buddha in Mireukjeon Hall or that it was a pedestal upon which a Buddha statue would have been placed.
