Treasure · 통일신라시대 9세기 · Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do
This stone pagoda is located on the side of the national road between Beolgyo and Boseong, in the middle of a rice field in a village of Ucheon-ri. It is presumed to have been built on an old temple site, but there is no official record on it. Given that its body and roof stones are well-proportioned, the pagoda is presumed to have been built in the 9th century during the Unified Silla period. After being disassembled in 1970, it was restored to the present form.
As the pagoda’s stylobate is partially buried in the ground and the floor is covered with cement, it is difficult to imagine what the lower part of the pagoda originally looked like. This stone pagoda has a three-story body with each of its body and roof stones made from one rock. At the four corners of the body on each floor, there are vague pillar-shaped carvings. Each roof stone has four-tiered roof support. The bottom of the eaves is leveled off with their four edges slightly going upwards. The remaining parts of the finial at the top of the structure include two decorative components, noban (dew plate) and bokbal (overtuned bow).
