Treasure · Unified Silla period · Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
This 4.75m-high stone pagoda dates back to the Unified Silla of the ninth century and according to the legend that Sinheung-sa had been located during the King Jinpyeong of Silla, Sinheung-sa temple was newly constructed
The pagoda complies with the typical mode of Silla pagodas as frame stone and roof stone were piled up in three stories on the double-stylobate. On each side of the upper stylobate, eight Buddhist guardians were embossed and each tower was made of one frame stone and one roof stone. The roof-stone supports are composed of four tiers and the eave corners are level. Unlike usual doors or locks, it is very uncommon to engrave such figures on every side. Despite a lot of damages in the body and stylobate, the pagoda shows well the beauty of Silla tower,
