Treasure · 조선시대 17세기 · Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do
This hall is said to have been built in 1105 by the monk Woneung of the Goryeo dynasty, and was reconstructed in 1653 during the Joseon period. Vairocana is enshrined at the center with a Buddhist painting of guardian Devas of Buddha-dharma on the left and a painting of the Three Bodhisattvas on the right.
The building itself is a designated treasure, and the main Buddha Vairocana is Tangible Cultural Heritage of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province. The mural painting of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and Bodhidharma seated side by side behind the main Buddha statue is Treasure.
The suspended bell runner with a dragon-shaped head and a child attendant wearing a green robe called Akchak Bosal (“Bodhisattva of Perseverance”) hanging from the west ceiling are also precious artifacts of Buddhist cultural heritage.
