Treasure · Unified Silla period · Gunwi-gun, Daegu
This 2.65m high standing stone Buddha which is placed on a round pedestal shows special features of the statue of Buddha made during the Shilla period(B.C. 57~A.D. 935).
It has a refined look: a low and wide usnisa (protuberance on the head symbolizing supreme wisdom), round and gentle face, small eyes and mouth, and long ears that fall on shoulders, etc. The statue is making distinctive signs. The right hand is showing the palm to make the gesture of granting people's wish, and the left hand is put on its chest. The Buddhist robe which is covering its both shoulders is reaching the knees and making U-shaped folds. The creases of the clothing on arms and long legs standing straight make the statue dignified. This statue of Buddha that had originally been the main statue when Daeyul-ri was a big temple is assumed to be moved to this place after the temple closed.
