Treasure · 1578년 · Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do
This statue has a high sculptural perfection and expressing a religion among some of the existing statues made in 16th century. Although there is no clear historical fact about this statue, from the analysis of the results and form found in Balwonmoon, it was estimated that it has been produced in 1578. The Sculptured Buddhist Statue made in 16th century is rare now. This statue was used to determine the flow of Buddhist sculpture during the Japanese invasion (1592~1598) which can determine the former and latter part of the Joseon dynasty. Furthermore, as viewed through individuality and outstanding modeling of this statue, it can be seen that this was made by the greatest sculptor at that time.
