Treasure · Joseon period · Yecheon-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do
The pavilion was built in 1566 by Gwon Sim-eon in memory of his father Gwon Ui(1475~1558), a scholar-official, who served as the magistrate of Uiheung during the reign of King Jungjong. The name Yaong was named after Gwon Ui's pen name. It is 4kan (a traditional unit of measure referring to the space between two pillars) by 3kan with a hipped and gabled roof. It comprises a wooden floored hall and an ondol (heated floor) room bordered by a veranda.
Though the back part of the building was remodeled, the house provides an important material for the study of the architectural styles before the mid-Joseon period.
