Treasure · Unified Silla period · Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do
This stupa is known as the sarira agoda or en aster ing b m kings of that time thanks to his high ethics and truth of Buddhism, Zen master Jingam [774~850] entered into Nirvana in Ssanggyesa Temple. He is also known for his contribution in the popularization of Beompae st chant after introducing it.
This stupa rises up to the total height of 205cm, following the basic style of the typical octagonal Wondang type from the unified Silla Dynasty equipped with the Stylobate, the Tapsinbu (roof-stone) and the Sangnyunbu in granite.
It appears that this stupa was built after some changes from the octagonal Wondang-type stupa based on the fact that the proportion between the Stylobate, the Tapsinbu, and the Sangnyunbu is not appropriate, and the engravings are either omitted or formalized. Even so, it is evaluated as a stupa with relative grandiosity and stability.
