Treasure · 통일신라 진성여왕 9년(895) · Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do
Gilsangtap is a pagoda that was erected in memory of the many monks and lay persons who sacrificed their lives. It was erected in 895 by Hunhyeok, a great master of Haeinsa, to pray for their happiness. lts height at 3m and style are typical of many three-storied stone pagodas of the Silla Kingdom. In 1966, some 157 relics and writings by the scholar Choe Chiwon (857-?) were discovered inside the pagoda. The writings provide details regarding the turmoil that enveloped the area during the last days of the Silla Kingdom.
