Yeongsanjeon Hall houses a collection of murals depicting the Buddha's teachings taken from some of the key scriptures of Mahayana Buddhism. The murals include a mural about Dabotap, or the Pagoda of Abundant Treasures, as featured in the chapter on the treasure stupa of the Lotus Sutra, and the forty-eight paintings of "The Life and Activities of the Shakyamuni Buddha Incarnate" made between the columns of the upper walls. Of the latter, twenty-six paintings are related with the life and activities of Shakyamuni Buddha, while the remaining twenty-two depict his disciples' efforts to propagate the Buddha's law. These murals have been widely praised for their outstanding depiction of profound religious devotion, as well as their artistic merit and historical significance, and are accordingly regarded as representative works of Korean Buddhist murals of the early eighteenth century.
